Morrow House 2025–2026

The Morrow House middle school experience continues to evolve, with a focus on academic rigor, innovative learning environments, and robust student leadership. We are proud to highlight key program enhancements and student achievements that underscore our commitment to preparing students for future success.

Academic Innovation and Excellence

Morrow House is focused on developing academic excellence by delivering challenging, real-world learning opportunities through competitive electives, Project-Based Learning, and advanced STEM initiatives.

Enhanced Electives Program

Morrow House is committed to offering students opportunities for in-depth academic exploration. Our refined electives program offers rigorous options across diverse fields, allowing students in all grades to dive deeply into subjects such as math, ethics, entrepreneurship, romance languages, science, creative writing, and finance.

A significant new development is the direct link between most electives and external competitions, such as the Bergen SciChallenge. This integration ensures that our students not only gain deep knowledge but also have crucial opportunities to demonstrate their excellence and distinguish themselves in competitive settings.

Project-Based Learning

Project-Based Learning (PBL) has been fully embraced as a key component of the Morrow House curriculum, challenging students to engage with complex, real-world problems. PBL requires a synthesis of collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking, culminating in presentations to an external audience.

Highlights from this year include the fifth-grade Constitution Play, the sixth-grade Greek Olympics, and the highly anticipated “This I Believe” and Shark Tank projects in seventh and eighth grade. These projects enable students to apply core knowledge in dynamic and memorable ways.

Robotics and STEM Engagement

We have elevated our STEM offerings by joining the First Lego League, providing students with a modern, hands-on, and competitive robotics experience. This initiative extends beyond traditional classroom instruction, cultivating essential 21st-century skills such as collaboration, problem-solving, and effective communication. Students apply their knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and math to a real-world robotics competition, gaining a valuable experience that builds technical proficiency, promotes innovation, and prepares them for future success in STEM fields.

Student Support and Community Development

Upgraded Middle School Learning Lab

The Elisabeth Morrow School’s Learning Lab has been completely reimagined and relocated to a central, highly accessible pass-through space. This upgraded environment now serves as a dynamic hub where learning specialists work with small groups to both support and enrich the curriculum for every middle school student. Crucially, the Learning Lab is open daily during Community Time, offering a dedicated environment for all students to work independently on homework, collaborate on group projects, receive extra help, or accelerate their learning in specific subject areas. This new setup promotes an open, inclusive, and collaborative environment across the middle school.

Vibrant Student Government

The Morrow House Student Government continues its impressive evolution, marking the fourth consecutive year of significant growth in student participation and the number of student-led initiatives. This year, more than 40 students ran for elected positions, including co-presidents, secretary, and treasurer, as well as service, social, spirit, DEIB, and green chairs, and grade-level representatives. Most impressively, the elected representatives are consistently joined by nearly two dozen non-elected students at the weekly Tuesday and Friday meetings. This level of engagement has yielded a vibrant and inclusive body that consistently spearheads new initiatives, refines traditional events, and supports the broader community through service projects. Elected students also refine their presentation and public speaking skills by regularly addressing school assemblies.
