Students Lead the Charge in the Return of Student Council

Morrow House student council 2022-2023

After a two-year hiatus, student government has returned to Morrow House thanks to the middle-school students who campaigned to bring back this extracurricular activity, put on hold by the pandemic. Our new middle-school leaders will work together to create a positive school climate and oversee social, spirit, and service opportunities.

After a well-attended information session, 38 students submitted applications, created flyers, and gave speeches to our middle-school community.

After voting on Oct. 28, 12 students were elected to positions in our student government. Students who don’t currently hold elected positions still have the opportunity to attend open meetings and volunteer to help with and participate in events and projects.

“Our students were courteous to each other as they considered what to run for; considerate while listening to speeches, and recognizing the courage it takes to run for office and speak in front of the whole middle school; cooperative by carefully following the guidance of the student government advisors and helping each other practice and prepare for campaign pitches; and compassionate with their interactions, supporting each other through understandable nerves and taking care of each other when the results were announced,” says Head of Middle School Eleni Siderias. “Our students deeply embody the 4 C’s and are an inspiration to the faculty and me.”

There's No Better Time to Support Your Child's Education

Every time you donate to one of Elisabeth Morrow's dedicated funds, you help enrich the daily experiences of our community on campus. STEAM spaces are enhanced, library catalogs are expanded, scholarships are funded, and teachers are hired. Every day, you can see the impact your generous donations have on campus.

EMS prepares students for an impressive range of top-tier secondary schools.

Our students cultivate the ability to learn, think, explore, empathize, and lead. They graduate with the ability, mindset, and competencies to navigate a global world and are well-prepared to face an unknowable future.

Accustomed to a challenging academic environment, EMS students welcome the demands of competitive secondary schools and are often placed in advanced sections where they perform very well.
