Orchestra and Superchamber Perform a Prelude to NJPAC Concert

Amelia Gold, Elisabeth Morrow School chamber and superchamber conductor, poses with students on a staircase.

Our school’s orchestra and superchamber recently performed live in the New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s Prudential Hall Lobby as a prelude to a concert featuring renowned conductor and violinist Joshua Bell and London’s Academy of St Martin in the Fields, known for its fresh, brilliant interpretations of the greatest classical music.

“It was truly an extraordinary experience for our students,” says Arts Department Chair Amelia Gold, a violin and orchestra teacher. “To have the opportunity to perform in the atrium at NJPAC and to hear their sound with such beautiful acoustics has a deep impact on their artistry and musical development. Josh Bell spent over 15 minutes with the students backstage speaking about his favorite composers, his favorite pieces, and his favorite sports teams. The students asked him many questions and he couldn’t have been more delighted to connect with our students, ages 3 through 14. This was one of those magical, only at EMS experiences.”

EMS prepares students for an impressive range of top-tier secondary schools.

Our students cultivate the ability to learn, think, explore, empathize, and lead. They graduate with the ability, mindset, and competencies to navigate a global world and are well-prepared to face an unknowable future.

Accustomed to a challenging academic environment, EMS students welcome the demands of competitive secondary schools and are often placed in advanced sections where they perform very well.
