New Summer Arts Academy

We have reimagined what arts learning can look like and have created a new member of the String Festival family, the EMS Summer Arts Academy (EMSSAA) (online), which will take place from August 10-14, 2020.

Students will have online instrumental lessons on the following orchestral instruments: violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion. In addition, students will participate in instrumental classes, musicianship classes, and dynamic arts electives ranging from dance, visual art and photography, creative writing, athletics and fitness, film, theater and design, and maker projects.

“During the last month, I was watching almost every arts program across the nation shut down without any virtual alternative,” says Amelia Gold, Arts Department Chair. “I was inspired to bring the best of what the EMS Arts Department does for children from our community and all over the world. While I will very much miss seeing my students in person, I am so excited to see what this new adventure together will yield artistically. I can’t wait  for the Summer String Festival’s 25th anniversary next summer in 2021 and to usher in the EMS Summer Arts Academy!”

Our inaugural program will offer the following programs:

Full-day program for ages 7-14 with three arts electives $450
Half-day program for ages 7-14 with two arts electives $250
Junior Ensemble program for students ages 4-6 years old with a set schedule $200

Students are able to craft a program that directly addresses their passions and interests. Full-day students will even have the opportunity to interface with some of the nation’s most outstanding artists through guest artist presentations in all areas of the visual and performing arts.

The EMSSAA will bring alive programs that have been very exciting and successful remotely at The Elisabeth Morrow School.

There's No Better Time to Support Your Child's Education

Every time you donate to one of Elisabeth Morrow's dedicated funds, you help enrich the daily experiences of our community on campus. STEAM spaces are improved, library catalogues expanded, scholarships are funded, and teachers are hired. Every day, you can see the impact your generous donations have on campus.

EMS prepares students for an impressive range of top-tier secondary schools.

Our students cultivate the ability to learn, think, explore, empathize, and lead. They graduate with the ability, mindset, and competencies to navigate a global world and are well-prepared to face an unknowable future.

Accustomed to a challenging academic environment, EMS students welcome the demands of competitive secondary schools and are often placed in advanced sections where they perform very well.
