A Spotlight On EMS’ Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion Work This Year

A group of generous donors came together recently to provide $30,000 in support of EMS efforts around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and bring more events and learning opportunities to our community through the collaborative efforts of the school and the Parents Association. The funds are earmarked to support our Equity and Justice Task Force and for use by the PA DEI Committee.

Tonia M. Spence, LCSW, M.S. Ed., an executive coach, consultant, trauma expert, and early childhood educator/trainer who offers skills in trauma-informed care and DEI leadership development, led a two-part DEI workshop — “Raising Global Leaders: Race, Racism and Parenting: Part 1” and “Part 2” — to share strategies on how parents can support their children in discussions around race and racism.

EMS parents collaborated with our faculty and parents from neighboring independent schools at the “Widening the Lens” conference. This year’s theme was “Lift Every Voice: Centering the Student Experience in Building Anti-Racist Communities.”

Diversity-Informed Tenets for Working with Infants, Children, and Families, a set of guiding principles and practices to strengthen the commitment and capacity of professionals, organizations, and systems to embed diversity, inclusion, and equity principles into their work, was discussed. “Self awareness leads to better services for families” was a highlight for EMS parents.

There's No Better Time to Support Your Child's Education

Every time you donate to one of Elisabeth Morrow's dedicated funds, you help enrich the daily experiences of our community on campus. STEAM spaces are improved, library catalogues expanded, scholarships are funded, and teachers are hired. Every day, you can see the impact your generous donations have on campus.

EMS prepares students for an impressive range of top-tier secondary schools.

Our students cultivate the ability to learn, think, explore, empathize, and lead. They graduate with the ability, mindset, and competencies to navigate a global world and are well-prepared to face an unknowable future.

Accustomed to a challenging academic environment, EMS students welcome the demands of competitive secondary schools and are often placed in advanced sections where they perform very well.

YOUR CHILD WOULD THRIVE AT EMS. SCHEDULE A TIME TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT JOINING OUR COMMUNITY.
