We are proud to announce that our very own Morrow House (Grades 5-8) student council is the recipient of the 2025 ASCA Student Council School of Excellence Award.
The National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the American Student Council Association (ASCA) recently announced the winners to celebrate the 2025 National Student Leadership Week, taking place from April 21-25, 2025.
This achievement shines a spotlight on the dedication and hard work of our middle school student leaders in fostering community service, student leadership, citizenship, and school spirit. Our student council is highlighted for its eighth-grade class gift fundraising efforts, the Founder’s Day Carnival, and DEIB assembly presentations. We are one of 47 schools nationwide to earn the honor and one of four in New Jersey.
“Student councils serve as a training ground for young people to experience democracy, civic participation, and leadership firsthand,” said L. Earl Franks, Ed.D., CAE, executive director of NAESP. “These students aren’t just getting ready for tomorrow; they’re actively molding it through their dedication and efforts to create positive change.”
“Serving in student government has taught me that the most effective leaders are not the ones who simply plow forward with their own vision but the ones who utilize teamwork to collaborate skillfully with as many other people as possible,” says student council co-president Eitan F.
Yael P., fellow co-president, adds, “I started building relationships… making friends across all four grade levels, and inquiring about what people wanted from the school community.”
