While many schools are still figuring out their stance on artificial intelligence, The Elisabeth Morrow School is moving with purpose. We have earned a Responsible AI in Learning (RAIL) Endorsement in AI Literacy, Safety, and Ethics from the Middle States Association. By earning this endorsement, we have joined an elite global cohort — the first of its kind — dedicated to ensuring that AI supports our students’ learning rather than serving as a substitute for it.
To earn this distinction, EMS underwent a rigorous evaluation of safety protocols, data privacy standards, and classroom policies. This framework ensures that our faculty are trained to proactively identify bias and protect student data, while integrating technology thoughtfully into their lessons.
As the only comprehensive standard of its kind for K–12 education, the RAIL framework ensures that student safety, privacy, and critical thinking remain our top priorities as we navigate this new technological landscape.
“In an era where AI is rapidly transforming the landscape of work and daily life, EMS students are gaining a distinct advantage,” says Head of School Marek Beck, Ph.D. “This endorsement ensures that our curriculum doesn’t just teach students how to use AI, but how to use it ethically, safely, and effectively.”
By adhering to the RAIL framework, we are providing our students with a clear academic compass, helping them develop the critical thinking skills they will need to lead in a complex digital world.
The Elisabeth Morrow School is one of just 71 schools worldwide to earn this recognition.
