Apple Distinguished School
We are pleased to be recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2022–2025 for our use of technology to enhance children’s learning through hands-on projects with real-world connections.
Apple Distinguished Schools are centers of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence. They use Apple technology to inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking in learning, teaching, and the school environment and have documented results of academic accomplishment.
Our Vision
Children thrive at The Elisabeth Morrow School, in a community that challenges and supports them as they discover their interests and talents.
INNOVATION IN TEACHING
The selection of The Elisabeth Morrow School as an Apple Distinguished School highlights its success as an innovator and a compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic achievement. The school’s exemplary STEAM curriculum features innovative programming in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics and features dedicated spaces — Exploration Alley (2-year-olds through kindergarten), Innovation Alley (first through fourth grades), and Innovation Studios (fifth through eighth grades) — to empower the next generation of designers, entrepreneurs, and inventors. Technology and innovation push the boundaries of what is possible.
INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY
Students at The Elisabeth Morrow School are immersed in a curriculum that integrates new technologies. They create silhouettes, an 18th-century art form, with 21st-century technology tools, including iPads and MacBooks. They explore Greek myths by creating projects with Apple’s iMovie and GarageBand. They conceptualize audio and visual elements connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals that they place and code in a virtual environment using MacBooks. With a focus on digital storytelling to communicate understanding, Apple technology has enhanced creativity and given students voice and choice.
Four Pillars
Through annual assessments, surveys, and focus groups, we collect qualitative and quantitative data to gauge our progress toward our five-year strategic plan, developed with community-wide input and prioritizing four pillars.
Leading the Way
As a school that balances the best of the old and the best of the new, The Elisabeth Morrow School looks forward to continuing its use of Apple technologies to transform teaching and learning. As our programs grow, students will encounter new opportunities to problem solve, think creatively, and share their voices through Apple’s Everyone Can Create and Everyone Can Code resources, supported by technically savvy educators, including Apple Distinguished Educator and Head of School Marek Beck, Ph.D., and Certified Apple Learning Coach and Technology Integrator, Samantha Morra. With technology and heart, The Elisabeth Morrow School strives to inspire graduates who are ready to lead the way with innovative thinking in a rapidly changing world, becoming the next generation of curious scholars, ethical leaders, and global citizens.
