Winter brought a flurry of activity for our students, who embraced the challenges and joys of basketball, squash, ice skating, and yoga, showcasing their dedication and enthusiasm in each sport and activity.
Basketball
Under the guidance of Rob Babbini and Daniel Henao, the EMS Eagles wrapped up their season on a high note, securing a hard-fought victory against Dwight Englewood and finishing with an impressive 10-3 record. The final games of the season highlighted the team’s resilience and depth, as they faced tough opponents and pulled through with notable performances from several players.
Squash at Englewood Field Club
Squash is a fast-paced, full-body workout that helps build strength, stamina, and cardiovascular health while enhancing hand-eye coordination and concentration. This winter, students learned the basics of the game, including grip, court positioning, and the rules, before progressing to develop skills such as forehand and backhand shots, footwork, and strategic shot placement.
Ice skating at Englewood Field Club
The class saw a wide range of abilities, from beginners taking their first steps on the ice to more experienced skaters perfecting their backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers, and turns. It was a fantastic way for our students to exercise outdoors during the winter while enjoying time with friends.

Yoga
Students explored eight breathing techniques to calm down during stressful situations and learned almost 30 yoga poses for flexibility and core strength, including 12 poses of sun salutation (Vinyasa Yoga) for a powerful practice and seven relaxing poses. Students also played fun yoga games, tried partner yoga poses, and practiced handstands.
