SUMMER STRING FESTIVAL ALUMNUS RETURNS AS GUEST CONDUCTOR

Tito Muñoz, Music Director of the Phoenix Symphony, will join the Summer String Festival as a guest conductor next week. In addition to sharing his artistic brilliance with our students, Muñoz will be conducting the New York Philharmonic and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s.

“EMS holds a truly special place in my heart,” says Muñoz, who was a counselor at Summer String Festival in the late 1990s. “I remember being so blown away by the program, and by the enthusiasm of everyone — the teachers, the staff, the students, the parents, and especially Amelia [Gold, Associate Head of School and Director of the Arts]. There was such a positive and nurturing atmosphere, and it was clearly allowing everyone to thrive and perform at their absolute best. I can’t say enough about how highly I think of EMS and Amelia, and I love seeing the program grow every single year. My heart sings every time I return to visit, and I’m SO looking forward to being back again this summer!”

Support the Arts

The EMS Summer String Festival is a summer music program for young violin, viola, and cello students who are deeply engaged, experienced, well-trained and love music. The combination of an intense, pre-professional music experience combined with the fun of camp brings together 150 of some of the most outstanding, young musicians nationally and internationally onto our 14 acre campus.

EMS prepares students for an impressive range of top-tier secondary schools.

Accustomed to a challenging academic environment, EMS students welcome the demands of competitive secondary schools and are often placed in advanced sections where they perform very well. See where our students have been accepted.
