Auxiliary Programs 2024–2025

The goal of Auxiliary Programs is to provide families with quality enrichment programs while extending the school hours to accommodate families’ schedules. These programs — Before and After Care, the After School Adventures Program, instrumental music lessons, Spring Break Mini Camp, Eagle Arts Week, and Summer Explorations — also help children to grow and develop knowledge, skills, and interests.

Continued growth and enrollment

We’ve seen an increase in participation across all our auxiliary programs, including aftercare, Afterschool Adventures, Spring Break Mini Camp, Eagle Arts Week and Summer Explorations.

Did you know ABOUT?

Our Partnership with 99% Sports

This fall, EMS began a partnership with 99% Sports to bring after school (and weekend) sports programs to both our EMS and our broader community. Flag football and basketball have been our most popular. We also offered speed and agility training and small group basketball. We look forward to expanding our offerings throughout the winter and spring sessions, including volleyball.

Our Snack Pack Event

Auxiliary Programs continues the tradition by giving back to our Englewood community. In January, we organized an Snack Pack event with the Little School and Morrow House students. Students worked together to pack more than 500 snack packs for local children who may be experiencing food insecurity. We are looking forward to continuing this transition in January 2025.

Summer Programs

Alums returned to campus! A total of 12 former students helped out in our summer program as “Leaders in Training,” counselors, and even one as a teacher.

EAGLE ARTS WEEK

This past June, 120 EMS students, ages 3 to grade 6, attended Eagle Arts Week. Small group music instruction paired with exciting enrichment workshops helped the students explore new interests and activities. Math, drama, nature study, art, flag football, and lots of time to play outside and splash in the pools and sprinklers, filled the students’ days.

SUMMER EXPLORATIONS

Summer Explorations welcomed 324 students to campus this summer from five countries, four different states and more than 35 towns. Our Early Childhood theme of “Around the World” had students learning about countries and cultures by “visiting” a different continent each week. Popular classes for students in grades 2-6 included stop-motion animation, debate, art, nature study, kitchen chemistry, coding, robotics, drama and creative writing. A few favorite all-camp activities this summer included a carnival, talent show, and Olympic Day!

Our “Leaders in Training” program for students in grades 7-9 focuses on leadership training while assisting younger students in our camp programs. All participants are trained in CPR and first aid.

ACCREDITATION RECEIVED

Summer Explorations was granted accreditation from The American Camp Association consisting of a review of more than 150 standards focusing on health, safety, and risk management.

ALUMS RETURNED TO CAMPUS!

A total of 14 former students helped out in our summer program as junior counselors, counselors, and even one as a first grade teacher.

ACTIVE VOLUNTEERISM

Director of Auxiliary Programs Liza Hards continues to be an active volunteer in the American Camp Association, working on accreditations for other camps. She hopes to present at the Tri-State Camp Conference in Atlantic City, N.J., this March.
