Founder’s Week at EMS

Field day at Elisabeth Morrow School

WEEK-LONG CELEBRATION BRINGS TOGETHER CURRENT AND FORMER STUDENTS

Field day at Elisabeth Morrow School

From May 17–21, the school hosted a week-long celebration honoring the legacy and traditions at our school. Field Day for our middle-school students took place earlier in the week, with alumni participating in their own week-long virtual Field Day organized by Director of Alumni Relations Angelique Morelli. “Over the course of my conversations with alumni this year, Field Day was one tradition that our graduates across every decade loved sharing with me. So, I was excited when the concept of a virtual event was suggested by our Chair of Alumni Field Day Julia Russell ‘07. I knew this event would bring our alumni community together to reminisce about and relive their Field Day experiences at EMS,” says Morelli. Other events included School Spirit Day with students, faculty, and staff wearing green and white to show their EMS pride; author Reeve Lindbergh, niece and closest living relative of EMS founder Elisabeth Morrow, reading The Midnight Farm, her first published children’s book (1987) for our EMS Book Reading Program; and accomplished alumni reflecting on their time at the school and sharing
their favorite memories.

For Founder’s Week, we had the talented Michael Daly P’22 create this amazing cartoon featuring our feathery friend and mascot —
the EMS eagle — and asked our social media followers to submit their best caption. The winner: PA president Melanie Weinraub P’21, ‘24! Congratulations!

Meet Murphy! This lovable lab, who accompanies Morrow House student Aubrey to school most days and even gets his temperature “checked” by Middle School Head Phil Cox and Nurse Desere Diaz P’29, ‘31, is dressed up for Spirit Week.

Mr. Love scours the ancient Morrow House records to solve the mystery of the Green versus White legends.

For generations, alumni, students, parents, and grandparents alike have marveled at how EMS can track decades of team lineage — green or white — ensuring that no family member will ever be pitted against another. ⁣But with records dating back before the existence of databases, how is this possible? ⁣One imagined scenario produced the cartoon above: Mr. Love reviewing ancient tomes

There's No Better Time to Support Your Child's Education

Every time you donate to one of Elisabeth Morrow's dedicated funds, you help enrich the daily experiences of our community on campus. STEAM spaces are improved, library catalogues expanded, scholarships are funded, and teachers are hired. Every day, you can see the impact your generous donations have on campus.

EMS prepares students for an impressive range of top-tier secondary schools.

Our students cultivate the ability to learn, think, explore, empathize, and lead. They graduate with the ability, mindset, and competencies to navigate a global world and are well-prepared to face an unknowable future.

Accustomed to a challenging academic environment, EMS students welcome the demands of competitive secondary schools and are often placed in advanced sections where they perform very well.
