From the soccer field to volleyball courts, tennis courts, and cross-country trails, all EMS athletic teams demonstrated growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The fall season was truly a success, with each team achieving milestones and contributing to the school’s athletic pride. A special thanks goes out to all the coaches!
Soccer Team
Under the guidance of Coaches Dave Messler and Ian Glover, the boys’ soccer team delivered an outstanding performance, finishing the season with an impressive 8-2-2 record. This achievement was driven by balanced scoring, a powerhouse defense, and fearless goaltending. What makes this accomplishment even more remarkable is the significant contributions from seventh and eighth graders across all areas of play. Their determination and consistency were evident throughout the season, highlighted by key victories, including a strong win against Collegiate.
Volleyball Team
Despite a challenging schedule, the girls’ volleyball team, coached by Claire Saal and Jackie Riley, demonstrated tremendous grit. With a 3-5 record, they earned important wins over Dwight-Englewood, Montclair Kimberley, and Tuxedo Park School. These wins reflect the team’s resilience and growth, setting a positive tone for the seasons ahead.

Tennis Team
Led by Coach Gene Love, the girls’ tennis team had an excellent season. They recorded two wins over Saddle River Day School and split matches with both Dwight-Englewood and Montclair Kimberley Academy. Strong performances from players like Zoe S., Sienna W., and Evelyn L. helped the team finish the season on a high note, showcasing the players’ skills and development throughout the year. The team’s growth and strong finish highlighted the positive development that took place throughout the season.

Cross Country Team
The cross country team, coached by Andrew Melfi and Everhard Paredes, had a remarkable season, competing in five meets at Van Cortlandt Park. Each race featured 100-200 runners in both the girls’ and boys’ events. At the championship meet, standout runner Evelyn O. earned a medal with an impressive 11th-place finish out of 113 competitors, while many others achieved personal bests. The team’s hard work, dedication, and perseverance were evident in both individual performances and their collective success throughout the season.
