Cello Teacher Ani Kalayjian Begins Second Season of the Carriage House Concerts

Elisabeth Morrow School cello teacher Ani Kalayjian and students

Cello teacher Ani Kalayjian held the first concert of the second season of the Carriage House Concerts music series on Sunday, February 2 at the Woman’s Club of Englewood. As a special treat, a talented group of Elisabeth Morrow House string students opened the show.

“The audience was blown away by the level of talent and focus the children exuded on stage, and it was a beautiful way to connect our community through the arts in Englewood,” says Kalayjian. “My early childhood experiences of seeing my teachers on stage always left me really inspired to continue the pursuit of excellence, and it is my hope that the children will continue to brighten up the world with their unique gifts.”

Performances also included Kalayjian, who is the artistic director of the Carriage House Concerts, and violinist Eric Silberger and pianist Philip Fisher, who presented works by composers Bedrich Smetana and Mary Koujoumdjian. The program, From my Homeland, drew inspiration from the nationalism in music and how it ties to our sense of home.
