Dedicated to providing an exemplary academic program and a transformative student experience, our school offers innovative programming in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics), while our humanities programs allow our students to explore themselves and the world around them through multiple perspectives. Our commitment to social and emotional learning (SEL), as well as our emphasis on leadership and character education, ensures that students have a holistic and child-centered experience throughout their years at EMS.

We believe each and every member of the Elisabeth Morrow School community should feel as though they “have a seat at the table.” We actively strive to create and improve upon our systems, structures, and most importantly, our relationships so that, from our students and their families to our faculty and staff to our alumni, each constituency group remains connected to and engaged with life at EMS.
technology and devices
EMS understands the pressure parents face in evaluating the benefits and risks associated with technology. We cannot prepare our students for a competitive landscape without ensuring they are well equipped to work with technology, but we also want to protect them from prolonged exposure to screen time and the pressures social technology can invite.
To help our students understand technology as a tool, we work to promote self-confidence, teach best practices around technological security, and designate space and time in the day where students put aside devices. We additionally limit access to social technology through the campus wifi. As students grow, we permit them increasing amounts of technological responsibility and privilege.
health and safety
There is no greater responsibility that our faculty and staff undertake than to ensure the health and safety of your children each day. From the moment your children step on a bus or exit your car until they return to your care, extensively layered strategies are in motion. While they will be largely invisible to your children, we want to make certain that parents can confidently go about their day, with full trust in The Elisabeth Morrow School community.
We have a full-time School Nurse and personnel with medical experience in each building, as well as a dedicated group of medical professionals in our community who serve on our Medical and Dental Advisory Committee. We are one of the only area schools to safely maintain an in-person experience throughout the 2020–2021 school year and summer of 2021 due to the tireless work of our Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, staff, and families.
