Mrs. Glastein's class read two books about Martin
Luther King, Jr. We wrote down facts about his life and talked about
his qualities. Then we drew portraits of him. He had a dream
about his kids to not be treated like he was when he was little. Martin's
birthday was January15, 1929. His murder was on April 4, 1968.
Martin believed in the golden rule, "treat others the way that you would
like to be treated."
Charlotte's Web Comes to Life in Second Grade
In response to their reading of Charlotte's Web, second graders studied both pigs and spiders. Students gathered facts about spiders and wrote their own non-fiction books, then worked in cooperative groups to research different types of spiders and their webs to share with their classmates. They then created spiders with Oreo cookies, licorice and M&M's.
The children read many other stories about pigs
and wrote their own stories using pigs as the main characters. Then
they fashioned small stuffed pigs from stockings, cotton balls and pink felt.

But, unfortunately, he lost this year. It was the worst day of his life. He had no idea that it was the championships. He never stuck his little head out of his little hut again. He had a friend who was a kangaroo. He encouraged Smart Pants to try again next summer. The End

fact, he was the smartest pig in his class. All the other pigs were
jealous of him. One day there was a test. It was a math test.
And guess who got the best grade? The smart pig did! He got the
best grades in all of his classes. He got an A+ in "Digging" and an
A+ in "Cooling Off" and an A++ in "Hearing Class." He went
to the best pig schools. He got bigger over the years. He got
